Common questions

What is zero-based budgeting?

You assign every dollar you actually have to a category before you spend it, until “Ready to Assign” reaches zero. Allot is built entirely around this method.

Does Allot connect to my bank?

No, by design. You enter transactions yourself. That keeps your financial data on your phone and means there is no bank login, no aggregator, and nothing to breach.

Does Allot need an account or a subscription?

No. There is no account and no subscription. Allot is free to try; Allot Pro is a one-time $11.99 unlock for unlimited accounts, net worth, debt payoff, reports, and import/export.

Can I import my existing data?

Yes. Allot Pro includes CSV import. Export a CSV from your bank or your old budgeting app, then map the date, payee, and amount columns during import.

Does Allot sync across my devices?

Not in v1. Allot stores everything locally on the phone it is installed on. Your iOS iCloud Backup or Android Auto Backup will preserve your data on the same device’s restore. Cross-device sync is being considered for a future release.

What happens if I get a new phone?

If you restore from iOS iCloud Backup or Android Auto Backup, Allot’s data should restore with the app. You can also keep your own backup with the JSON export in Settings.

How do credit cards work?

Add a credit card as an account. When you categorize a purchase made on it, Allot sets aside the cash to pay it off in that card’s Payment category. Paying the card is a transfer from your checking account.

Do you have a roadmap?

Broadly: a home-screen widget and split transactions are next, followed by optional cross-device sync. We will never add subscriptions, accounts, advertising, AI, or bank-login requirements.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple (App Store) and Google (Play Store). We cannot process refunds directly. Use reportaproblem.apple.com for iOS, or Google Play’s purchase history for Android.
